Founded in 2012, the purpose of the Carrollton High School Distinguished Alumni Award is to perpetuate the CHS tradition of excellence by honoring graduates who have achieved a high level of success during their lifetime in areas such as leadership, service to community, humanitarianism and creativity, and in careers which have benefitted others. Award recipients also serve as an inspiration to current CHS students. This the highest honor to bestow upon a graduate.

This award is sponsored by the Carrollton High School Alumni Association, originally founded in 1910, and today is an extension of the Carrollton City Schools Education Foundation.
