System Goals & Objectives

2009-2012

Performance Goal 1
Fully implement the Georgia Performance Standards to provide all students rigorous and equitable learning opportunities.

Performance Objectives:
•  Curriculum guides are developed to provide a consistent framework of instruction for all students.
•  Comprehensive units are designed for the Georgia Performance Standards using a research-based format.
•  Formative assessment practices drive quality instructional practices.
•  The instructional plan is designed using research-based best practices.
•  Grading practices reflect an accurate measure of a student's growth.
•  Standards-based classrooms have been developed to reflect the alignment of student knowledge and
   demonstration of state standards to the new curriculum, instruction, assessments, resources, and grading
   practices.

Performance Goal 2
Increase reading & English/Language Arts achievement for all students.

Performance Objectives:
•  Reading is integrated across the curriculum using research-based best practices.
•  Writing is integrated across the curriculum using research-based best practices.
•  Vocabulary is integrated across the curriculum using research- based best practices.
•  Extended learning opportunities are provided for students who need extra time to master the
   Reading/ELA standards.
•  Advanced student learners are provided opportunities to extend their knowledge and skills in reading, English,
   and language arts through rigorous course options.
•  Students are provided opportunities to improve their SAT score.

Performance Goal 3
Increase mathematics achievement for all students.

Performance Objectives:
•  The math curriculum is taught using research-based best practices.
•  Extended learning opportunities are provided for students who need extra time to master the math standards.
•  Advanced learners are provided opportunities to extend their mathematics understanding through rigorous
   course options.
•  Students are provided opportunities to improve their SAT scores.

Performance Goal 4
Increase science achievement for all students.

Performance Objectives:
•  The science curriculum is taught using research-based best practices.
•  Extended learning opportunities are provided for students who need extra time to master the science standards.
•  Advanced learners are provided opportunities to extend their understanding of science through rigorous course
   options.

Performance Goal 5
Increase social studies achievement for all students.

Performance Objectives:
•  The social studies curriculum is taught using research-based best practices.
•  Extended learning opportunities are provided for students who need extra time to master the social studies
   standards.
•  Advanced learners are provided opportunities to extend their understanding of social studies through rigorous
   course options.

Performance Goal 6
Close the Achievement Gap between all subgroups.

All subgroups will meet the annual measureable objectives for reading, language arts, math, science and social studies.

Performance Objectives:
•  Faculty and staff are diversified and personnel demographics mirror student demographics.
•  All teachers demonstrate the ability to positively impact African American and Hispanic learners.
•  Ensure all students have the opportunity to take rigorous classes.
•  Students develop cultural awareness and appreciation for racial differences.
•  Ensure special education students are provided opportunities to master the grade level curriculum.
•  ELL students are provided opportunities to master the grade level curriculum.
•  Fair and equitable discipline practices are in place for all students.
•  Parents of ELL students are provided support.
•  Increase minority student participation in the gifted program.
•  Increase mathematics achievement among minority students.
•  Increase minority parental involvement. 
•  Enhance career/post secondary guidance for all students.
•  Equitable representation of all races is present in all extracurricular activities.

Performance Goal 7
Provide increased access to technology as a learning tool to improve instruction and student achievement for all students.

Performance Objectives:
•  Students will acquire the knowledge and skills, as outlined by state and national technology standards, to
   become proficient with the continually changing technological applications.
•  All teachers will acquire the knowledge and skills to seamlessly integrate technology into their teaching
   practices.
•  The latest equipment and training tools will be used to ensure the safety of our students, employees, and
   visitors.
•  On-going partnerships with local community members will be maintained to ensure we stay abreast of the 
   changing needs of the workforce.
•  Technology will be utilized to support the management of operations and administrative functions thereby
   channeling the systems' energy on the students' education.

Performance Goal 8
Educate all students in learning environments that are safe, drug free, and conducive to learning.

Performance Objectives:
•  Ensure all schools are safe and disciplined by implementing high quality violence prevention programs and
   a progressive discipline system.
•  Increase effective Tier II interventions for students with behavioral needs.
•  Ensure all schools are drug-free by promoting implementation of high quality alcohol, tobacco, and other
   drug prevention programs.

Performance Goal 9
Improve services and outcomes for students with disabilities.

Performance Objectives:
•  Improve post-school outcomes for students with disabilities.
•  Improve services for young children (ages 3-5) with disabilities.
•  Improve the provision of a free and appropriate public education to students with disabilities.
•  Maintain compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.

Performance Goal 10
All students, including economically disadvantaged and minority, will have equitable opportunities with respect to quality instruction, teacher instructional experience, class size, and teacher's ability to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.

Performance Objectives:
•  All core academic subjects are taught by highly qualified effective teachers.
•  All students will have equal access to experienced teachers.
•  LEA will have continued equity in class size for all students.
•  All teachers will receive training and can effectively differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning
   needs of all students.
•  LEA will retain highly qualified, effective teachers in all schools.
•  The LEA will recruit highly qualified, effective teachers and make equitable placements so that all students
   and all programs have highly qualified, effective teachers with equivalent teaching experience.
•  Hiring practices will reflect student demographics
