Scott Morris, Head Coach of Boys and Girls Golf Team:

Coach Morris is beginning his 13th and final season as the coach of the Trojans while teaching Algebra at Carrollton Junior High School. He is a native of Woodstock, GA where he attended Etowah High School. Upon graduation from the University of West Georgia in 1984, he immediately started working in the Carrollton City system as a math teacher and junior high school basketball coach.

After six seasons coaching basketball, Coach Morris added track to his coaching duties. In 2000, Coach Morris traded in his coaching responsibilities in basketball and track and replaced them with golf. After coaching the middle school team to a championship in its first season, Coach Morris took over the helm of the varsity program.

Success on the links has been a common theme the past 12 seasons. The first 9 years found Coach Morris coaching both the girls and boys teams. After multiple top four finishes and a state title with the girls program, the program split to two coaches with Coach Morris concentrating only on the boys program. The boys have enjoyed success over the 12 year period with three region championships and four runner-up finishes while also recording one top-four finish and multiple top ten placements at state. Players from the golf teams have finished first or second in region ten times during this period with two players finishing in the top four individually at state.

Coach Morris is married to the former Carla Cole of Carrollton. They have two sons and two grandchildren. The oldest, Steven, is currently serving in the Army. He has two children (Chandler and Kyleigh) and currently resides in Kentucky. Coach Morris’ youngest son served in the Navy and currently lives in Carrollton.
