The Trojan Spirit and Leadership Scholarship:Established as a tribute to Doyle and Margaret Garrett by their children and grandchildren in 2003, this scholarship is awarded to an athlete who has exhibited true leadership skills in the sports of football, basketball or cheerleading and is considered vital to his or her team's success. The recipient also must have demonstrated a desire to be successful in college; this motivation for future success weighs as heavily, if not more so, than an applicant's four-year high school performance. The recipient is determined by a CHS committee that includes members of the Garrett family.
The Whitley Morris Scholarship:Established in 2004 by the estate of Whitley Morris, a scholar-athlete at Carrollton High School in the early 1900s, this scholarship is awarded to one male and one female athlete each spring. Selection is based on athletic ability, overall character and classroom performance and is determined by a committee made up of the CHS athletic director, CHS principal and Carrollton City Schools superintendent.
The Charlie Grisham Scholarship:Established in 1999 in memory of the legendary head football coach and athletic director, Charlie Grisham, the scholarship is jointly sponsored by the Carrollton Schools Education Foundation and the Carrollton Athletic Booster Club. Qualified applicants must have a 3.0 grade point average and have lettered in at least two sports. They must also write an essay entitled "What Being a Trojan Means to Me" and provide at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, pastor or employer. The foundation's scholarship committee selects each year's recipient.
Ben Stallings Football Scholar Award: This award was established as a memorial by family and friends of 2005 Carrollton High School graduate Ben Stallings, an exceptional student-athlete and third-generation Trojan. This award is presented annually to a graduating senior who plans to pursue a college education. Applicants must have played football for four years of high school, have the highest cumulative GPA among fellow players and have exceptional character. Two letters of recommendation are required along with the application.
Tim Bone Award:Presented annually by members of the Class of 1966 in memory of their classmate Tim Bone, who lost his life in an automobile accident. The award is presented to a student who captures Tim Bone's academic, athletic and leadership qualities.
Wendy's High School Heisman Award:Presented annually to a male and female athlete for recognition of academic achievement, community service and athletic accomplishments. School recipients compete at the state level for scholarships.
