Six Trojans commit to college programs

Trojan kicker Joel Smith has accepted a full scholarship to play football for Jacksonville State University next year. Seated with Joel are his parents, Isabella and Scott Smith. Six Trojan standouts formally accepted scholarship offers on National Signing Day, establishing an impressive slate of senior athletes who will go on to play football in college. Seated are the scholarship recipients: Jared Cooley, Shorter College; Clay Horton, U.S. Air Force Academy; Joel Smith, Jacksonville State University; Chas Presnell, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga; Jamie Swindle, University of West Georgia; and James Bryant, Georgia Military College. Standing are Carrollton coaches Marvell McKelphin, Joey King, Jamie Lucas, Blake Haynes, Head Football Coach Rayvan Teague, Greg Nail, CHS Athletic Director David Brooks, Ronnie Glanton, Carrollton High School Principal Mark Albertus, Ashley Dewitt and Scott New.

Ingui to kick for Presbyterian College

Trojan Joseph Ingui has accepted an offer to join the Presbyterian College Blue Hose as a kicker in exchange for grants and scholarships to attend the private, liberal arts college in Clinton, S.C. Seated with Joseph at his signing are his parents, Sally and Frank Ingui. Standing are Blake Haynes, Trojan kicking coach; David Brooks, Carrollton High School athletic director; Rayvan Teague, head football coach; and Dr. Mark Albertus, CHS principal. In addition to football, Ingui plays soccer and is captain of the team.
