Walk/Bike to School

Carrollton City Schools is a proud partner of the Georgia Safe Routes to School Program.

Our campus is unique, boasting not only all four schools on one footprint, but we are also home to the Carrollton Greenbelt, an 18-mile shared-use path designed for pedestrians and non-motorized users. The trail connects existing neighborhoods with the city school campus, the University of West Georgia, the city parks, and several commercial shopping areas. The Carrollton GreenBelt is the largest green-space and green-way conservation project that the City of Carrollton has undertaken. It is also the largest paved loop trail system in the state of Georgia. This community trail makes walking and biking to school safe and easy.

Click on the link to determine the safest routes to approach each school. There is a bicycle rack located at each school. Hay’s Mill and Target Trailheads on the Carrollton Greenbelt are only a 15 to 20-minute walk to the different schools and are an excellent location to park, walk and bicycle to school. Please notify your student’s teacher if your student is a walker or bike rider.

Walking or riding to school has been shown to improve the following:

• Overall Health
• Academic Performance
