Golden Giving campaign finishes strong

The Carrollton City Schools Education Foundation wrapped up its annual Golden Giving fundraising campaign in late August. Golden Giving is a simple way community members can make a one-time or recurring donation to support the foundation’s program areas which include scholarships, classroom grants, and field trip experiences. The foundation’s current focus is to support more field trips for students who cannot afford to attend. There was a “Gold Out” celebration at the second home football game on Aug. 30 to close out the campaign.A projected $45K was raised from community members through monthly recurring or one-time donations. Currently, more than sixty percent of employees also give each month to support the foundation. Each employee and community member enrolled was entered into a raffle at the Gold Out event. Highlighting how Golden Giving directly impacts classrooms, pictured from left are Carrollton Elementary School students Mia Gonzalez and Azaria Walker, working with wooden blocks called KEVA Planks in Joseph Benefield’s class. Benefield received a grant from the CCS Education Foundation last year, which allowed him to purchase the blocks for his students.
