CARROLLTON, GA — Carrollton City Schools educator and U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Marvin A. Cox was honored as a Hero in Education at the Heroes Among Us event on May 24, recognizing his military service and teaching career.
Upon his retirement from the Air Force, Cox chose to pursue a career in education, where he helped guide future servicemen and servicewomen for 16 years as an Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) instructor at Carrollton High School. Currently, he serves as a facilities coordinator for Carrollton City Schools. In this capacity, he manages all campus facility use, ensuring smooth operations for both internal and community events.
Cox plays a vital role in bringing people together, whether it’s for athletics, the arts, or educational programs. His dedication to providing exceptional experiences for the community demonstrates the pride and ownership he brings to his position.
CCS Assistant Superintendent of Facilities and Operations Craig George said Cox is incredibly deserving of this honor.
“Master Sgt. Cox has dedicated his life to serving others through his military career and years in education,” said George. “His leadership and commitment to excellence have profoundly impacted countless lives. He truly exemplifies the title of ‘Hero in Education’.”
