CHS students selected for Washington Youth Tour stand in atrium with their certificates presented by Carroll EMC representatives.

CARROLLTON, GA – Carrollton High School students, Blythe Browning and Will Mobley, were selected to participate in the Washington Youth Tour (WYT), sponsored by Carroll Electric Membership Cooperative (EMC). The fully funded, weeklong trip allows students to have a unique experience in Washington, D.C., where they learn about the nation’s capital, government operations, and historical landmarks.

Both students went through a rigorous application process that involved interviewing with representatives from the co-op and WYT. Blythe and Will were chosen among an impressive group of applicants. According to Carroll EMC, winning candidates are selected “based on academics, community involvement, and good fit.”

After completing the interview round over winter break, the finalists were surprised with the announcement that they had been selected at school on Tuesday, Feb. 24.

Blythe and Will plan to attend this year’s WYT session, taking place June 12-19, where they will make meaningful connections with state and national leaders as well as other high schoolers who are in pursuit of similar goals.

“I am very proud of Blythe and Will for going the extra mile and seeking out this opportunity to further develop their leadership skills and have a one-of-a-kind experience in Washington, D.C.,” said CHS Principal Ian Lyle. “We are excited to see all that they accomplish and learn during the Washington Youth Tour, and we are grateful for Carroll EMC’s continued support of our students and community.”
