CARROLLTON, GA — Three Carrollton High School Trojan Band seniors, Cadence Carr, Yael Ramirez and Haley Rowell, were recognized as the first recipients of the CHS Trojan Band Leadership scholarship totaling $6,000. Sponsored by an anonymous donor, the scholarship was awarded during the annual Band BBQ fundraiser on April 30.

The scholarship was established to honor students who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, commitment, and service within the Trojan Marching Band program. Each recipient will receive a $2,000 award to support their continued education.

Eligible students are those who have served in the program’s highest student leadership roles, including Band Captain and Drum Major. These positions are earned through a rigorous selection process that includes leadership training, participation in a leadership clinic, and interviews with a panel of band staff representing multiple levels of the district’s music program.

“These students are outstanding representatives of the leadership culture within our program,” said CCS Director of Bands Dr. Chris Carr. “Their commitment goes far beyond performance. They lead with humility, serve with integrity, and positively influence those around them, setting the standard for excellence each day.”

At the core of the Trojan Band program is the philosophy of HUSTLE—Humility, Scholarship, Trust, and Leadership—which ultimately leads to Excellence. These scholarship recipients embody those values through their daily actions.

“This recognition is about more than a financial award,” Carr added. “It affirms the character, discipline, and leadership these students have demonstrated and challenges them to carry those values forward into the next chapter of their lives.”

This scholarship initiative reinforces the Trojan Band’s commitment to developing not only skilled musicians but also leaders prepared to make a meaningful impact in their communities.
