What Is the Peach Education Tax Credit?

Georgia allows individuals and businesses to contribute to a local public school system and receive a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit in return. This means your contribution directly reduces the amount of state income tax you owe—essentially letting you decide how some of your tax dollars are spent.

How Does It Benefit Our Schools?

When you participate, your contribution goes straight to our school district. These funds are used to enhance educational opportunities, provide resources for our students and teachers, and support innovative programs that might not be possible through regular funding alone. It's a way to give back to your local schools and see the impact of your support firsthand.

What’s in It for You?

For every dollar you contribute, you get an equal amount deducted from your Georgia state income tax. Your state tax dollars can stay local to directly benefit Carrollton City Schools with no additional cost to you. By taking part, you can control where your money goes, ensuring it benefits local students and teachers in ways that matter most to you.

How to get started:

STEP ONE: Start by applying for pre-approval HERE. It takes less than a minute to complete your application and GFPE will submit your application to the Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR) on your behalf. Once approved, you’re ready to make a difference!

STEP TWO: GFPE and DOR will notify you of your approved tax credit amount and payment deadline to take part in PEACH.

STEP THREE: Submit your donation HERE before the deadline, and select Carrollton City Schools to ensure your contribution stays local. Within one week of receiving your donation, the GFPE will send you the Form IT-QED-FUND1, which serves as the receipt for the donation. If you prefer to make a donation via check, please contact GFPE for details at 678-590-7047.

STEP THREE: CLAIM: When filing your Georgia income taxes, claim your dollar-for-dollar credit for the exact amount you donated by completing Form IT-QED-TP2 and attaching it to your income tax return when it is filed. (Note: you will take the credit when you file your taxes in the year following your contribution).
